Learning Objectives
- Describe the epidemiologic trends of tuberculosis in the state of New Jersey.
- Identify who should be screened for tuberculosis and why.
- Understand how to diagnose TB infection and disease.
- Discuss testing required before and during treatment for latent tuberculosis infection and disease including serological, radiological, and bacteriological tests.
- Describe the treatment recommendations for latent tuberculosis infection and tuberculosis disease.
- Understand the public health responsibilities of a clinician in the state of New Jersey including the needs to report tuberculosis suspects and cases and collaborate with health departments for adequate patient care.
Method of Instruction
Participants should read the learning objectives and review all four modules in their entirety. After reviewing the modules, complete the self-assessment test consisting of a series of multiple-choice and True/ False questions and submit the course evaluation.
Upon completing this activity as designed and achieving a passing score of 70% or more on the self-assessment test, participants will receive a printable credit letter. Estimated time to complete this activity as designed is 2.0 hours.
