CALL TO ORDER:

The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m.

SALIENT ISSUES:

  • The CME Committee approved the minutes of the meeting of September 21, 2005.
  • The committee discussed specific recommendations involving elevation of continuing medical education activities at the New Jersey Medical School as requested by the Dean, Dr. Robert L. Johnson.  Members of the committee were asked to give further thought to this issue so that a final series of recommendations can be proffered at the December Faculty Council Meeting.
  • One of the serious concerns of the committee is the lack of a conference center and until such accommodations can be offered, the committee suggests increased use of hotels with negotiated UMDNJ rates and easy access to the medical school.
  • The soon to be launched CMEd website was reviewed and the suggestion made that it be presented at the December Faculty Council Meeting.
  • The committee reviewed last year’s activities including the training seminars which will be continued this year.  Plans are being made to visit every department as well as  division directors to discuss the structure and process of continuing medical education.
  • The committee recommended that members of CCOE as well as the Chair and Vice Chair meet with the Dr. Lawrence Feldman, Sr. Associate Dean for Education in order to advise him of our activities and enlist his cooperation.
  • The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 16 at 4:00 p.m. at UH C455.
