OVERVIEWtop

Renal failure and its accompanying chronic illness always have a profound effect on patients and their families, but can be especially devastating when the patient is a child or adolescent. There have been advances in the understanding of the mechanisms of progressive kidney failure and its prevention. In addition, there have been significant advances in the management of children with end-stage kidney disease. With today's advances in medical technology and the expertise of a specialized team of professionals, we can often help these children grow up to be healthy, productive members of society. The pediatrician and family physician is now, or will soon be, involved in the care of such children. This program will provide clinicians current knowledge on the latest information regarding diagnosis and treatment strategies for this population.
