SPONSOR
This course is sponsored by the UMDNJ-New Jersey Dental School, Department of Diagnostic Sciences, Division of Oral Medicine, in cooperation with the UMDNJ-Center for Continuing and Outreach Education.
OVERVIEW
This innovative, Internet-based course in orofacial pain is specifically designed for dental clinicians and educators throughout the world. Participants will be exposed to a formal educational program that will enhance their ability to better diagnose and manage orofacial pain patients.
The concept of educational institutions using electronic technology to overcome the barriers of time and space is known as "distance learning." While traditional methods of presenting CE courses requires personal attendance, distance learning courses enable participants to easily access necessary information and exchange ideas with their peers without being physically present in a classroom or lecture hall.
The faculty of the Department of Diagnostic Sciences, Division of Oral Medicine at the UMDNJ-New Jersey Dental School enjoys a national and international reputation and is considered a leader in the field of continuing education in orofacial pain. The quality of the faculty, combined with extensive teaching experience gained through giving extended CE courses and fellowship programs in orofacial pain for the past 25 years, ensures the success of this program.
This course will provide the participant with a scientific foundation for understanding orofacial pain. Emphasis will be on pain of nonmasticatory origin. It will not be a course on temporomandibular disorders (TMD) although TMD will be discussed.
