How Does the Course 'Work' Over the Internet?
After you register, you will be assigned a study group leader (UMDNJ faculty) and receive a password that gives you private access to the course home page. After communicating with your group leader and completing an orientation, you then proceed step-by-step throught 13 content units, each corresponding to a section of the NBRC CRT Exam. Each unit provides a detailed outline of exam content, linked to a variety of helpful learning aids, including short prep sheets, clinical practice guidelines and online tutorials. After reviewing these materials, you take a 20 question quiz to determine you mastery of that exam section. If you score above 75% you move on to the next section. If you score below 75%, you are directed to spend more time on the unit content and/or get assistance from your study group leader. before attempting another quiz (you may take up to 5 different quizzes per unit). After finishing all 13 units, you take a computer-generated 140 question comprehensive CRT-like exam.
Is an Online Course Right for Me?
Taking a course online is not for everyone. To be sure that the online method fits your learning and lifestyle, click here to take a online learning self assessment, developed by Lynne Schrum at the University of Georgia. If yor prefer a structured approach, you might contact Kettering National Seminars for a schedule of traditional 'sit-down' review courses offerred in your area.
Will Faculty Be Available to Answer My Questions?
The UMDNJ CRT Review Faculty are ready and waiting to provide individual assistance to each registered participant. Faculty members will advise no more than 20 Review Course participants each, ensuring timely advisement and speedy answers to all questions. You communicate with your advisor by both e-mail and via the Unit Q&A discussion groups (see below).
Will I Be Able to 'Talk To' Other Participants?
Yes, there are two ways for you to communicate with other review course participants. First, each participant receives a special e-mail address vaild only within the course. All participants have access to each other via this 'private' e-mail. In addition, participants can meet each other and discuss Unit content via posting messages on our threaded Q&A discussion forums.
What is Meant by 'Guaranteed Participation' Until I Pass?
The UMDNJ Center for Advanced and Continuing Education provides a simple guarantee: you pay for the course once and once only. If you do not pass the CRT Exam after successfully completing the course (all course units), you may re-enroll for free as many times as needed until you pass and become a Certified Respiratory Therapist!
Can my Friends Take the Course Along With Me?
Only if they register and enroll separately! We can maintain our low fee only as long as each participant enrolls individually. In addition, only registered participants receive support from the faculty study group leaders. However, we do make special arrangements for students or recent graduates from the same college who enroll together. Whenever more than five students or recent grads sign up together through their Program Director, we provide a special group rate. In addition, we establish a special private group discussion forum just for your Program. Last, we provide your a member of your Program faculty with free access, so that he or she can give you and your peers additional personal support and assistance as needed. Click on the group plan sidebar for more information.
