OVERVIEWtop

This knowledge-based program is designed to enhance physicians, physician assistants, advanced practice nurses, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, social workers and other healthcare providers’ competence related to the National AIDS Strategy, injection safety, early treatment, STD, Latent TB and Cancer guidelines, PAPs statistics in NJ and possible drug interactions with antiretroviral therapy in the HIV-Infected population. The state of New Jersey remains number five in the United States for reported cases of HIV/AIDS. There have been significant advances in treatment for HIV/AIDS. This conference will introduce clinicians to the latest documented treatment strategies for HIV/AIDS patients.

TARGET AUDIENCEtop

Physicians, Physician Assistants, Advanced Practice Nurses, Nurses, Pharmacists, Dentists, Social Workers and other healthcare professionals involved in HIV treatment and education.

OBJECTIVES top

Upon completion of this program, participants whould be able to:

  • Describe the National AIDS Strategy including the role of early HIV treatment in decreasing community viral load and transmission.
  • Reduce infectious disease transmission through identification and reduction of infection control breaches and unsafe injection practices.
  • Identify and implement strategies to improve PAP screening rates among HIV-infected women in New Jersey.
  • Incorporate newly-approved testing options for early diagnosis and treatment of STDs.
  • Identify potentially harmful interactions between antiretroviral and other medications.
  • Implement treatment for latent Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection (LTBI).
  • Identify HIV-infected patients at risk for certain
