OVERVIEWtop

This knowledge–based program is designed to enhance physicians, physician assistants, advanced practice nurses, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, dental hygienists, social workers and other healthcare providers’ competence and knowledge
related to new advances in HIV treatment, new hepatitis testing and medications, pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), the effects of HAART, chronic pain and patient care with limited resources.

The state of New Jersey remains number five in the United States for reported cases of HIV/AIDS. There has been significant advances in treatment for HIV/AIDS. This conference will introduce clinicians to the latest documented treatment
strategies for HIV/AIDS.

For successful completion of the conference and subsequent awarding of credit, participants are expected to attend the entire program, return all registration documents and submit a completed evaluation form at the end of the conference. A letter verifying your attendance and credit certification will be mailed within 6 weeks of the program.

OBJECTIVES top

At the conference end, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss the effects of HAART in treatment and pregnancy.
  • Incorporate new HPV testing and treatment strategies into daily practice.
  • Apply clinical and psychosocial principles to develop an alternative treatment plan for chronic pain management in HIV patients
  • Discuss strategies for HIV-Infected patients with limited resources.
  • Interpret clinical trials to understand the advancements in PrEP.

The New York State Dental Foundation is approved by the NYSDA and the ADA CERP as an approved provider for dental continuing education in conjunction with the New York State Department of Health-AIDS Institute. The Dental Hygienists’ Association of the State of New York, Inc., an accredited approver by the New York State Depart of Education, has approved the NY/NJ AETC’s continuing education learning activities
for dental hygienists.

UMDNJ-CCOE certifies that this continuing education offering meets the criteria for up to .50 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), provided the activity is completed as designed.
